Mississippi Riverboats

Natchez Riverboat

One of my favorite movies growing up was Gone With the Wind and one of my favorite scenes in the movie is the scene where Scarlett and Rhett are on their honeymoon on a New Orleans riverboat. I guess when most people think of riverboats they think of New Orleans but the truth is riverboats run up and down the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Missouri to New Orleans, Louisiana to Vicksburg, Virginia.

Mississippi River

Is there anything more romantic than taking a cruise on a riverboat? I don't think so and it seems a lot of people would agree, hundreds of people each year choose to get married on them. That's not all you can do on a riverboat, you can have a fabulous dinner, go gambling, rent one out for a corporate party or just take a leisurely float along the river; many towns along rivers offer such services. I’ve been on a few dinner cruises and sight seeing tours and I can say they are worth while. Dinner cruises can be a bit pricey but I guess it all depends on the menu and your budget.
